Mom Charged With Child Abuse After Toddler's Death

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick police have charged the mother of a toddler after the child died at a hospital under suspicious circumstances. The child's father had been charged earlier in the girl's death.

Stephanie Ramirez Williams, 21, was charged Monday with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

Police say officials were called to the home on Friday at 11:50 p.m. for a report of a 21-month-old child who was not breathing. The girl was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. Police say an investigation into the girl's death revealed suspicious circumstances, including visible marks and bruises on her body.

The girl's father, 24-year-old Aubrey Williams, was charged with child abuse resulting in death and other offenses.
