MoCo 911 System Back Up & Running After 2-Hour Outage

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) -- Montgomery County's 911 system is back up and running Monday morning after going down for two hours, authorities said.

The outage was reported before 11:30 p.m. on Twitter by Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer. The system was restored about 1:32 a.m., according to a subsequent tweet.

The system, which was only carrying emergency communications during the outage, is once again functioning properly, Piringer wrote.

In case of an emergency and 911 isn't working properly or you get a busy signal, call 311 instead or the closest fire station or police district station, the agency said in a news release.
