MLB Fans Celebrate National Babe Ruth Day

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- On April 27, baseball fans around the country honor one of baseball's all-time greatest players. It's #NationalBabeRuthDay.

George Herman "Babe" Ruth, Jr. was born on February 6, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland. He earned the nicknames "the Bambino" and "the Sultan of Swat" while spending 22 seasons in Major League Baseball.

Ruth retired from baseball in 1935 and passed away 13-years later after losing his battle with cancer.

Baltimore is home to the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum which is the rowhouse where Ruth was born and serves as a monument to the life and times of The Bambino by featuring unique artifacts and exhibits.
