Mitchell Courthouse Reopens Wednesday Weeks After Fire

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--The Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Courthouse will reopen to the public Wednesday after being closed several weeks due to a fire.

The Mitchell Courthouse has been closed since Wednesday, April 27.

"The scope of work undertaken by DGS and its contractors has been truly remarkable.  An extraordinary effort has been devoted to restoring the courthouse to functionality," said Baltimore City Administrative Judge W. Michel Pierson.  "Our judges, clerks, and staff have shown great dedication and flexibility as we have strived to continue to offer crucial court services to the public.  We are also grateful to jurors and people who have business with the court for their patience and understanding during this time."

Officials say individuals who have received notices to report for jury service on May 18 or later should report to the Mitchell Courthouse.
