Mistrial Declared For Man Accused Of Shooting Off-Duty Officer

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Ruling that police had failed to turn over evidence to the defense, a Baltimore judge has declared a mistrial for a man accused of shooting an off-duty officer.

Thirty-five-year-old Gregg Thomas is charged with attempted murder in the March 2014 attack on Sgt. Keith Mcneill. The Baltimore Sun reports (http://bsun.md/1JFgcem) that Mcneill was hospitalized for more than a year after the shooting.

Circuit Court Judge John Addison Howard ruled Friday that Baltimore police had failed to turn over two photos that a police ballistics expert brought with him when he testified.

Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby says a new trial date will be set next week.
