Missing NIH Scientist Found Dead In Allegany County
GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WJZ)-- Police have identified a man found dead in an abandoned vehicle Thursday afternoon as 54-year-old Martin John Rogers III
Rogers, an NIH scientist, was reported missing in August. He was last seen alive leaving his Gaithersburg home before heading to work on Aug. 21. His family and friends believe he was suffering from an amnesia-like illness.
On Thursday, Maryland State Police troopers were called to the area of Smith Road in Allegany County, where passers-by located what appeared to be an abandoned car.
When authorities arrived they found a body believed to be Rogers near the vehicle.
The body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for confirmation of identity.
No foul play is suspected in his death.
