The Daily Times reports that the Chincoteague Police Department announced the discovery of the pony's remains on Thursday.

Police say a lawn maintenance contractor working in the area found the pony's remains Wednesday night in a corner where a chainlink fence, several trees and bushes are located.

The pony, named Dreamer's Faith, disappeared from the corral area at the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Department's carnival grounds in September. Authorities initially believed that the pony had been stolen.
