Missing 33-Year-Old Bethesda Man Dies After Lighting Self On Fire Near White House

BETHESDA, Md. (WJZ) --Arnav Gupta died Wednesday after he lit himself on fire in DC near the White House.

Secret Service and U.S. Park Police were called to 15th and Constitution avenues for a report of a person on fire around noon. They extinguished the fire and took Gupta to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Montgomery County detectives are asking for the public's help in finding a missing 33-year-old Bethesda man.

Family members last saw Arnav Gupta when he let his home around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Police are concerned about his physical and emotional well-being.

Gupta is five-foot-nine and weighs 200 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, a mustache and wears glasses.
