Mike Battaglia On The Preakness And The Possibility Of Moving The Race

Mike Battaglia is a long time horse racing analyst for NBC.

Mike joined Ed and Steve to talk about the Preakness and possibly moving the race from Pimlico.

Mike started off by talking about the stormy weather and the sloppy track saying "if there had been another bolt of lightning or heavier storms they would have delayed the race." As for whether or not this race should have been delayed or not Mike said "that's a tough call and it was borderline, but I would not go against the call to race." Mike talked about whether or not American Pharoah could be the horse to break the Triple Crown drought saying "he's the best horse, he's the fastest horse and the only thing that can beat him is the triple crown...can he handle the mile and a half, you never know until they get out there and run if they can do it in the 5 week span." Mike also talked about the recurring story of possibly moving the Preakness from Pimlico to Laurel and if it is plausible.
