Saunders Agrees To Minor League Contract With Orioles

BALTIMORE (AP) — Outfielder Michael Saunders has agreed to a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles, who assigned him to Triple-A Norfolk.

Saunders has played nine major leagues seasons, hitting 81 homers and driving in 283 runs in 775 games. Last year, he split time between Toronto and Philadelphia.

He was signed by Pittsburgh in February, then was released when the Pirates acquired Corey Dickeson. He then signed with Kansas City and was released at the end of spring training.

The 31-year-old Saunders his best season in 2016, when had 24 homers and 53 RBIs in 140 games with the Blue Jays.

A left-handed batter, Saunders broke into the big leagues in 2009 with Seattle
