Michael Felder Previews Big Ten Football

Michael Felder from Bleacher Report joined the Scott Garceau Show, along with Terry Ford, to discuss all things college football as we approach the start of the season.

It is clear to most that Ohio State and Michigan State are easily the top two teams in the Big Ten heading into the season. Scott asked Michael which teams he thought were right on the cusp of catching up with the Buckeyes and Spartans. "I think the next one behind them is Penn State. There defense is going to be stout. It's scary that all three of the best teams in the Big Ten are on the east side [of the conference]. On the west side, I think Wisconsin and Nebraska are pretty similar actually. Nebraska is a team where I except more out of them on the defensive side than Wisconsin, but Wisconsin is going to be more consistent on offense. Those two are going to have to duke it out, and whoever wins that game should win that side"

Maryland is entering there second year in the Big Ten and Terry asked Michael what he thought of head coach Randy Edsall and his Terrapin football team. "I really like Randy Edsall. Obviously there was a rocky start. But I look at him, and you want to farm that region, you want to get kids excited about Maryland football. You want to get kids to stay at home and he has some small wins. Everyone thought when they got into the Big Ten that they were going to be at the bottom and they got in there and they held their own. They are right in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten. Yes, they want to elevate higher, but I like the work [Edsall] is doing."

Michael also mentioned that recruits in the region are interested in Maryland. "I do a lot of recruiting work now, and these kids are excited about Maryland. They are legitimately pumped about the opportunity to talk to Maryland, to go to Maryland."
