Metro To Open Early For Marathon Sunday
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro says it will open early Sunday for the Nike Women's Half Marathon, and there will be weekend adjustments for track work.
Metro says it will open at 5 a.m. Sunday, two hours early, to help runners get to the start of the race.
Other adjustments begin Friday at 10 p.m. and continue through system closing on Sunday. On the red line, trains will run every 15 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont with additional trains from Shady Grove to Judiciary Square during daytime hours.
On the orange line, free shuttle buses will replace trains between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly. And on the blue line, buses will replace trains between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road.
Waits for yellow and green line trains will be three minutes longer than normal on Saturday.
