Metro Asks For Comment On Budget, Fare Increases

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro is asking customers for comment on the transit agency's proposed fiscal year 2015 budget and fare changes.

Metro posted an online survey Thursday which will be open until Feb. 11. Metro's Board of Directors is also hosting a series of six public hearings between Jan. 29 and Feb. 6. Two of the hearings will be held in the District of Columbia. Two hearings will be held in Maryland, in Greenbelt and Rockville. And two more hearings will be held in Virginia, in Springfield and Arlington.

The online survey asks customers to rate the importance of things like escalator maintenance, improving announcements and signage, and a customer care program. The transit agency also asks about proposed fare increases.

The fiscal year 2015 budget would take effect July 1, 2014.
