Medical Examiner: Woman Murdered In Severn Blaze

SEVERN, Md. (WJZ)—A woman found dead after a Severn home went up in flames earlier this week was murdered, police say.

The fire happened around 3:40 a.m. in the 1200 block of Old Camp Meade Road. Officials say when they arrived the house was fully engulfed in flames.

The residence was under construction due to a previous fire in 2015.

On Thursday, the body of 59-year-old Diana Knight, of Severn,  along with several animal remains were pulled from the debris.

According to the medical examiner, Knight had upper body trauma and was murdered.

On Friday, officials say a man's body was also pulled  from the rubble, his identify is unknown at this time.

Police say the fire is now a homicide investigation and that preliminary information has revealed that the victims may have been targeted.
