Md. Woman, 78, Convicted In Boyfriend's Slaying At Va. Campground
SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (AP) -- A May 1 sentencing is set for a Maryland woman convicted of second-degree murder in the slaying of her boyfriend at a campground in Virginia.
The Free Lance-Star reports that Lillian Mae Levy, 78, of Mechanicsville, Md., entered Alford pleas on Wednesday in Spotsylvania County Circuit Court to the murder charge and to a firearms charge.
An Alford plea is one in which a defendant acknowledges there was sufficient evidence for conviction but does not admit guilt.
Levy was accused of shooting James Thomas, 62, of Essex County on April 27, 2013 at Wilderness Presidential Resorts in Spotsylvania County.
Thomas died 12 days later.
