Md. Teen Injured In Fatal SUV Crash In Vermont

COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) -- Vermont State Police say one teenager was killed and two others injured when their SUV went off Interstate 89 and crashed into a tree.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at about 5 p.m. Saturday in Colchester, Vermont. It's not clear why the SUV left the roadway and wound up in a wooded backyard.

State Police say 18-year-old Christina Menke of Essex was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 19-year-old Jacob Dahreddine of Bethesda, Maryland, and another passenger, 18-year-old Julia Rickner of Bristol, had to be extracted from the SUV. They were taken to UVM Medical Center with severe injuries.

State police say it doesn't appear that speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. The weather was clear and sunny at the time, and the road was dry.
