Md. State Fair Announces New Security Measures

TIMONIUM, Md. (AP) -- Revelers heading to the Maryland State Fair this year will have to leave their backpacks home.

The Maryland State Fair and Agricultural Society announced new security measures on Friday that include a ban on backpacks, coolers, large bags and wheeled carts in the festival's fairgrounds in Timonium.

Officials say fairgoers could also be subject to searches of their strollers, satchels and camera bags. Fair security may deny entry to anyone whose behavior seems disorderly.

The state fair begins Aug. 22.
