Md. Senate President Announces Leadership Posts

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller has named Sen. Robert Zirkin to chair the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee.

Miller announced a variety of leadership changes on Wednesday. Zirkin, a Baltimore County Democrat, will take the place of Sen. Brian Frosh, who will become Maryland's next attorney general.

Miller also announced that Sen. Jamie Raskin of Montgomery County will be the chairman of the Executive Nominations Committee and the Senate chair of the Joint Committee on Legislative Ethics.

Sen. Richard Madaleno of Montgomery will serve as vice chair of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee.

Baltimore Sen. Joan Conway will continue to serve as chair of the Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee.

Baltimore Sen. Catherine Pugh will be the Senate majority leader.
