Md. Plaza To Be Dedicated To Veterans

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County elected officials will dedicate a new plaza and light an eternal flame in honor of Maryland's war veterans.

County Executive Ike Leggett and Council president Craig Rice will dedicate the plaza and its Fallen Heroes Memorial, which is part of the Judicial Center Annex construction project, on Monday.

The plaza includes green spaces, benches, a water fountain and a memorial walkway featuring commemorative plaques.

Everett Alvarez, a former U.S. Navy commander and prisoner of war during the Vietnam War, will raise the POW/MIA flag as part of the ceremony.
