Md., Pa., W.Va. Police To Step Up I-81 Enforcement

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) -- State police in Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia are planning to step up enforcement on Interstate 81 following three double-fatality wrecks in the past month.

Maryland State Police Lt. Michael Fluharty tells media outlets that the goal is to reduce wrecks and aggressive driving on I-81.

Troopers in the three states will conduct joint enforcement efforts during the spring and summer. The operations won't be announced. They will target specific areas in all three states.

One of the double-fatality wrecks occurred March 11 near Williamsport, Md. Another occurred March 26 near Falling Waters, W.Va. The third wreck occurred last week in Carlisle, Pa.
