Md. Orders Gold's Gym To Pay Refunds To 7,500 Consumers

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Maryland's attorney general has ordered the owners of four closed Gold's Gym locations to pay refunds to more than 7,500 state consumers.

Brian E. Frosh said Friday that Consumer Protection Division has issued a final order against the owners of Gold's Gym facilities in Annapolis, Baltimore, Edgewater and Towson.

Frosh says the four clubs closed in 2010 without giving notice or refunds to consumers who had paid in advance for long-term memberships.

Under the order, the company and its owners, Eric and Kary Krieger, must return nearly $560,000 to 7,555 Maryland consumers.

Consumers seeking additional information should call 410-576-6577.
