Md. Officials Urging Drivers To Stay Off Roads

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Maryland State Highway Administration says it is deploying crews to salt and plow roads as rain has turned to snow and sleet.

Highway officials on Sunday were urging drivers to stay off roadways, especially in the northern and western parts of the state where heavy snow was falling. Highway officials say high winds and intense bands of precipitation are reducing visibility.

Officials were reminding drivers who have to be on the road to drive slowly and be alert to changing conditions.
