Md. Man Shot In Home-Invasion Confrontation

BEL PRE, Md. (AP) -- A Montgomery County man was shot after confronting armed men who forced their way into his apartment.

Montgomery County police say two suspects, one armed with a gun, forced their way into the Bel Pre apartment Sunday night while five people, including two young children, were home.

They demanded money, and a struggle ensued between one suspect and a 26-year-old victim, who was shot in the shoulder. The victims were able to restrain the suspect while the other suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. A third suspect acting as a lookout also fled.

The 26-year-old had non-life-threatening injuries. The subdued suspect, 30-year-old Barrington Watts of Baltimore, was taken to a hospital for injuries he got during the struggle. He's being charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and assault.
