Md. Man Gets 5 More Years After Officer's Assault

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- A Wicomico County man serving 18 months in prison in a robbery case has been sentenced to five more years behind bars.

A jury found 25-year-old Nicholas Stuetz of Fruitland guilty Monday in the February assault of a Wicomico County Detention Center officer.

Prosecutors say the officer had asked Stuetz to hand over a plastic storage tub from his jail cell because other inmates had been breaking them into pieces and making weapons.

Prosecutors say Stuetz became angry and threw the tub at the officer, hitting him in the chin and chest.

At Stuetz's first sentencing in the robbery case, he said in court that he had grown up and was excited to be released so he could get back to his life.
