Md. Man Faces Up To 30 Years In Girl's Kidnapping

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- A Prince George's County man is set to be sentenced Wednesday in the kidnapping and attempted sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl.

Charles Amofa of Hyattsville pleaded guilty in April to kidnapping, sexual offenses and solicitation of a minor. He faces up to 30 years in prison at his sentencing in Prince George's County Circuit Court.

In August 2012, police say the 27-year-old Amofa approached a 6-year-old girl who had become separated from her father at a store and lured her outside. They say he then took her to a Hyattsville-area playground and tried to sexually assault her.

Police say Amofa was involved in a similar attack the month before. In that case, a 6-year-old girl was lured from the same store but was able to run away.
