Md. Man Arrested In Fatal Attack At Del. Grocery

NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Police have made an arrest in the death of a Maryland man who was violently beaten in a Delaware grocery store parking lot.

Delaware State Police said Tuesday that 27-year-old Aaron Downes of Elkton, Maryland was arrested on a manslaughter charge in the death of 22-year-old Tyler Stanley of Chesapeake City. It's unclear whether Downes has an attorney.

Police say Stanley was in a car Friday when Downes opened the passenger door and asked Stanley about money he was owed from a drug deal. Police say Downes began punching Stanley in the head and upper body before fleeing in an SUV.

A 57-year-old woman in the car when the attack happened called 911, and emergency responders tried to revive Stanley, who had become unresponsive. He died the next night.
