Md. Karate Instructor Charged With Child Pornography

CHEVY CHASE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County authorities say a 26-year-old karate instructor has been charged with possessing child pornography and they've uncovered evidence he also had inappropriate contact with adolescents at a karate studio.

The Montgomery County Police Department said Friday that Alexander Soumbadze faces eight possession of child pornography counts.

Officials say Soumbadze acknowledged trading and receiving child pornography. They say an investigation uncovered videos of him inappropriately touching and engaging in sexual acts with adolescent males at a Maryland karate studio where he was an instructor. Officials say the videos were taken before October 2011 and that they are attempting to locate victims to determine possible additional charges.

A telephone message left at Chevy Chase's On The Mat Sports International, where officials say Soumbadze is a partner, was not immediately returned Friday.
