Mass. Kidnap Suspect Found In Baltimore Motel Faces Arraignment

TAUNTON, Mass. (AP) -- A Lawrence woman charged with participating in an armed kidnapping last month is facing arraignment.

Prosecutors say 28-year-old Stephanie Walker is being returned from Maryland to Massachusetts and faces arraignment Tuesday in Taunton District Court on charges of kidnapping and assault and battery.

Authorities say Walker and Adynew Alves, of Boston, kidnapped a 49-year-old woman at gunpoint on Sept. 23, threw her in the trunk of a car and drove her south on Route 24 until she escaped in Taunton.

Police did not disclose a possible motive.

Walker was found at a motel in Baltimore on Sept. 29.

Alves surrendered to Maryland authorities last week and is awaiting his return to Massachusetts to face charges including kidnapping and armed assault.

It's not clear if either suspect has a lawyer.
