Maryland Deals With Wet Winter Mess
WESTMINSTER, Md. (WJZ) -- Snow has been falling across portions of the state for much of the day.
Rick Ritter with more on some of the areas that saw several inches.
From wet roads to snow piling up, WJZ saw it all Tuesday as we drove across the state in a nasty winter mix.
In Carroll County, crews are in Phase II cleanup mode.
"We're pushing the snow off the roads and getting some salt down," said Ted Sirko, Carroll County.
So far, close to 2,000 tons.
"There can be slippery spots out there at really any opportunity," said Sirko.
Westminster homeowners, like Ken Scitz, are wrestling at least five inches.
"It's sort of weight, but it's light--it's not really that heavy," said Scitz.
Driving to Howard County, not as much accumulation, but still slippery roads--although many aren't worried.
"A lot better than the snow was two weeks ago," a woman in Elkridge said.
In Baltimore County and Harford County, it's a steady flow--both watched snow pile onto cars.
At State Highway Administration, it's all hands on deck in the storm center, where the focus has shifted to Wednesday morning.
"Overnight, anything that is wet has the potential to refreeze again."
A possibility that could wreak havoc on the morning commute.
Carroll County saw at least five inches of snow.
State Highway crews will be working overnight into Wednesday morning to make sure traffic runs smoothly.
