Maryland Weather: Cooler & calmer conditions in store

Derek Beasley has your Thursday night forecast

BALTIMORE -- Our Thursday is shaping up to be cool and dry, a nice change from the heat and storms we've had.

The good news is this weather will pave the way for several days of pleasant conditions as we head into the weekend.

We're looking at a mostly calm forecast for the rest of the day as these clouds clear out and give way to some sunshine.

Temperatures will reach a high of roughly 87 degrees today, and it will actually feel like it.

"We are not getting the heat," First Alert meteorologist Tim Williams said. "Even though we get up to 87 degrees, it will be a true 87—no heat index."

A cold front will stall out over central Virginia today before a reinforcing cold front passes through tonight.

Besides a chance for a shower this evening, things should be mostly clear.

High pressure will build overhead Friday through Saturday before moving offshore on Sunday.

Friday will be mostly sunny with an afternoon high in the low 80s, and the story will be the same Saturday.

Sunday is expected to be a little warmer and cloudier, particularly as the day goes on.

With an upper-level trough remaining over the area early to mid next week, expect some unsettled conditions.
