Maryland Weather: Damp & Chilly

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- After a cold, and in some cases snowy, start, Wednesday is shaping up to be damp and chilly.

Temperatures are leveling out with a daytime high of roughly 42 degrees, a significant change from the 70-degree temperatures we had on Monday.

While western and northern parts of Maryland are likely to see a few inches of wet snow, most of us will be dealing with rain at times throughout the day.

The chance for precipitation is 100%, but little to no snowfall is forecast for those of us in central Maryland.

East winds from the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay are reinforcing cloud coverage, so things will be mostly gray even when it's not raining.

We anticipate a soaking rain for most of the state through midday as a low-pressure system passes to our south.

Mountain snow is expected with accumulations generally around 1 to 3 inches, though parts of Allegany and Garrett counties could get 3-4.

Clouds will break Wednesday night as temperatures drop to around 32 degrees and things dry out.

Looking ahead, Thursday promises milder weather with some clouds, sunshine and a daytime high of 54 degrees.

P.S. It's never too early to mention that Daylight Saving Time starts at 2 a.m. Sunday.
