Maryland Veterinarians Caring For Opossum, 13 Babies Struck By Car

ABINGDON, Md. (WZJ)—Veterinarians in Abingdon, Maryland are continuing extensive treatment after a opossum and her 13 babies were struck by a car on Friday.

Chadwell Animal Hospital says the opossum suffered severe head trauma and required extensive surgery to remove an eye, suture her tongue and suture the top of her mouth.

"We placed a feeding tube to make sure she gets the nutrition needed to feed her 13 babies," the animal hospital says.

The current condition of the opossum is not known at this time.
