Maryland Teacher Charged With Sexually Abusing Student

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- A Salisbury middle school teacher has been arrested following accusations she sexually abused a student.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reported Wednesday that authorities arrested 32-year-old Kelly Michelle Riddle on May 18 and charged her with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Authorities say Riddle was an eighth-grade science teacher at Bennett Middle School.

According to online Maryland court records, the two alleged incidents of sexual abuse occurred between June 1, 2014, and May 11, 2015.

School spokeswoman Tracy Sahler told the newspaper a Bennett Middle School teacher was placed on administrative leave and the county Board of Education is working with local law enforcement on an investigation, but did not specify it related to Riddle.

Riddle's bond was originally set at $75,000 but was lowered to $25,000.
