Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Accident On Route 50

BALTIMORE (WJZ) - One man has died and two others are injured after a single car accident in Prince George's County.

Witnesses say the crashed occurred just after 7:30 Thursday night when a Nissan passenger vehicle was driving westbound on Route 50 in the HOV lane prior to Martin Luther King Jr. Highway at a rate of high speed. The driver then swerved across the lanes of traffic and lost control of the vehicle and struck at tree and then a sound barrier wall before coming to rest.

According to police, 20-year old Robert Flowers of Mitchellville, Maryland was killed in the accident. The driver of the vehicle, 20-year old Damon Richardson and passenger, 21-year old Ahniya Muhammad, were both taken to the Prince George's Hospital Center to be treated for injuries. No word on their condition this morning.

Police say alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
