Maryland Man Fatally Shot By Deputy

SUITLAND, Md. (AP) -- A Prince George's County man has died after being shot by a sheriff's deputy responding to a domestic violence call involving a gun.

The Prince George's County Sheriff's Office says deputies were talking to a woman who had called 911 from a Suitland home around 1 a.m. Thursday when a man appeared at the front door and confronted them.

The sheriff's office says one of the deputies shot the man, who later died at a hospital.

In a news release about the shooting, the sheriff's office did not say whether the man was armed when he was shot, and did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

The man's identity wasn't immediately released.
