Maryland Jockey Club General Manager Sal Sinatra On How To Keep The Preakness In Baltimore

Sal Sinatra is the General Manager of the Maryland Jockey Club.

Sal joined Ed and Steve to talk about all the happenings at the 141st Preakness Stakes.

Sal started out by talking about what went wrong for Nyquist at the Preakness saying "Nyquist going into the first turn he took it kind of wide...I'm not sure if he really liked the sloppiness." As for the record setting crowd despite the ugly weather and how that happened Sal said "people from out of town made plans and us down here in Baltimore have become so used to rain it didn't bother us...it was just an unbelievable day."

As for what is wrong with Pimlico and the possibility of losing the Preakness Sal said "the study is going to tell a lot, the building is old and the infrastructure is old...every year it's something different, the place needs a total upgrade." After describing some problems at Pimlico Sal described the year after year quick fixes on the track and concourse saying "it's like we're putting lipstick on a pig almost."

Sal went on to talk about how we fix the problems at Pimlico and whether or not an entirely new track is needed to keep the Preakness here.
