Maryland Hospital To Host Its First Wheelchair Rugby Match

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute will host its first wheelchair rugby tournament in Baltimore.

East coast teams will face off during the match, called the Crab Pot Tournament. The University of Maryland's team, the Maryland Mayhem, will be pitted against the Magee Eagles from Philadelphia, the Capitol Punishers from Washington and the West New York Wreckers. The teams will play 90-minute games over the two-day tournament, which will begin Saturday.

In wheelchair rugby, also called quad rugby, players have injuries affecting at least three of their extremities.
