Maryland Governor Appoints State Police Superintendent

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Larry Hogan has appointed William Pallozzi to be superintendent of the Maryland State Police. Hogan made the announcement Tuesday.

Hogan says Pallozzi has risen through the ranks of the state police for two-and-a-half decades.

Pallozzi began his career has a patrol trooper in 1989. He has held various supervisory and leadership positions. They include commander of the Executive Protection Division, chief of staff in the Office of the Superintendent and chief of the Criminal Investigation Bureau. He also has been chief of the Support Services Bureau.

The governor's office also says in his last role, Pallozzi oversaw programs affecting every aspect of the state police.

Pallozzi's appointment needs Senate confirmation.
