Maryland Gov. Hogan 'Very Troubled' By Impeachment Inquiry Into President Trump
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP/WJZ) -- Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan said he's "very troubled" by the controversy that has prompted an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, but he said more facts need to be gathered.
Hogan made the comments Thursday during an appearance at the Yahoo! Finance All Markets Summit in New York.
"This whole idea of ignoring subpoenas and not cooperating doesn't sit well with me or a lot of other people," Hogan said.
But Gov. Hogan also said he thinks many are jumping to conclusions too quickly.
"This whole rush to judgement in saying we have an accusation so we need to throw him out of office, that's not the way the founders of the country envisioned," Hogan said.
Hogan said he's not sure yet if the president should be impeached.
"We gotta get to the facts and truth and then wherever those facts and the truth leads us," Hogan said.
The Gov. also said that Congress needs to carry out the inquiry objectively and do the right thing.
In Minneapolis Thursday night, President Trump held his first campaign rally two weeks after House Democrats opened their impeachment inquiry.
The inquiry was launched after a whistleblower complaint about President Trump's dealings with Ukraine and his request to the country's president to investigate Joe Biden and his son.
