Maryland Education Superintendent Karen Salmon To Step Down At End Of Term, Will Not Seek Re-Election

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Karen Salmon, the superintendent of Maryland's education department, will not seek another term as the state's top educator and will step down when her term ends in June.

Salmon told the state's Board of Education of her decision on Tuesday. Her last day will be June 30.

The education department said Salmon worked in education for more than 40 years, including as the superintendent of Talbot County schools for a decade.
