Maryland Driver Killed When Car Collides With Pickup Truck

GLENWOOD, Md. (AP) -- Howard County police say one person was killed and three people were hurt when a car left the road in Glenwood, lost control on a patch of slush and collided with a pickup truck with a snow plow on front.

It happened about 9:10 a.m. Tuesday on Route 97. Officers say 26-year-old Zeyu Zhang of Timonium was driving an Acura south when it came around a curve, left the road, entered the right shoulder and encountered a patch of slush.

Authorities say Zhang's car swerved sideways onto northbound Route 97, where it was hit by the pickup truck.

Zhang was pronounced dead at the scene. Three people in the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.

Police say excessive speed may have contributed to Zhang's car going onto the shoulder.
