Maryland Democratic Party Chairwoman To Resign

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland Democratic Party's chairwoman is resigning to spend more time with family.

In a statement posted on the party's website, Yvette Lewis announced that she would resign April 2.

Lewis says she needs to attend to her family. She says her father recently died and her mother is having health issues.

Lewis, who is from Prince George's County, has been chairwoman since 2011.
