Maryland Civil Air Patrol Members Headed To South Carolina

WOODSTOCK, Md. (AP) -- Members of the Maryland Civil Air Patrol are heading to South Carolina to begin disaster-relief flights in the wake of Hurricane Matthew. Officials say the teams departing Sunday consist of pilots, air crews and aerial photographers.

The flight crews will conduct photographic surveys of South Carolina's coastline and inland areas, providing high-resolution images of flooding and property damage to local emergency management agencies.

Officials say the aircrews also could be tasked with search-and-rescue flights and other missions in support of the disaster relief efforts.
