Maryland Bank Robbed, Suspect Drops Some Of The Money

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County Police are looking for a man who robbed a Silver Spring bank -- and for people who picked up some of the stolen money the suspect dropped while fleeing.

Officers say a man walked into TD Bank on Briggs Chaney Road about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday and gave a teller a note demanding money.

Police say the teller gave the man money, and the robber ran from the bank to a shopping center. Authorities say the suspect dropped some of the stolen money, which was picked up by passers-by before police arrived.

Police say anyone wishing to return the dropped money can contact them at 301-279-8000. Officers warn that anyone who took the money and does not return it could be prosecuted for theft.
