Mark Zinno: Hall Of Shameful Voters
Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun, who is also on the board of directors of the Baseball Writers Association of America, joined Zinno on "Last Call" to discuss the revoking of Dan Le Batard's Hall of Fame vote. Le Batard gave his vote to the website Deadspin.com and they put it out to the fans. "He can protest a lot of other ways. He makes himself sound like he's 'Robin Hood' and that's not the case," Connolly said.
Connolly continued, "There is a sense that the baseball writers are not doing it correctly. But you're talking about a group of 570 people. You get 570 people in your neighborhood, there will be a lot people doing things different." The overwhelming sense is that the system needs tweaking because of the way certain writers vote.
As far as the performance enhancing drug users, there is no standard as of right now. "It would be helpful for voters and writers. I think MLB and the Hall of Fame, they have assigned the baseball writers as gatekeepers and they can decide that," Connolly said.
