Baltimore Man Who Fled Traffic Stop Fatally Hurt In Crash

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (WJZ) -- Maryland State Police say a Baltimore man was fatally injured in a crash minutes after fleeing a traffic stop in Calvert County.

He has been identified as 27-year-old Jaie M. Perrizo.

A trooper stopped a Mitsubishi Lancer on Route 4 in Prince Frederick on Sunday afternoon, but after the driver pulled to the shoulder, police say he drove off.

The trooper followed the car as police say it swerved through traffic and a duty officer concerned for public safety ordered an end to the pursuit.

Minutes later, police say the Mitsubishi hit a Ford Escape on Route 4 south of Sixes Road. The drivers of both vehicles were flown to Prince George's Hospital Center, where police say  Perrizo was pronounced dead.

The other driver injured in the crash is identified as 31-year-old Ryan C. Fisher, of Port Republic, Md.

It is unknown at this time why Perrizo refused to stop for the trooper. The investigation continues.
