Man Wanted For Attempted Murder Is Arrested, Dies In Police Custody

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ)—A man wanted for attempted murder has died in police custody following a brief foot pursuit on Saturday afternoon.

The incident started in the 4700 block of York Road in Baltimore, when police say they observed a man matching the description of a suspect wanted for attempted murder. Police say when the man was approached he began to run into a wooded area in which a on foot pursuit ensued.

A short time later, while the suspect was surrounded he surrendered to police without incident.

Once the suspect arrived at the Northern District police say he advised authorities he was having difficulty breathing due to a preexisting condition and needed medical condition.Police say an officer performed lifesaving efforts while waiting for EMTs to arrive. The suspect was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Investigators are working to confirm the man's identity and his exact cause of death following a medical examiner's investigation.
