Man Shot By Law Enforcers In Critical Condition

JOPPA, Md. (AP) -- The Harford County Sheriff's Office says a man who was shot by four deputies and a state trooper in Joppa is in critical but stable condition.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Cristie Kahler said in a news release that the man had been flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore after the incident Saturday. She says the man has not been charged.

Authorities say the man fired at police after getting out of a car that had been driven into a yard. Officers then shot him. Detectives recovered a loaded .38 revolver from the scene, Kahler said.

The deputies are Cpl. Christopher Aycock, DFC Michael Stambaugh, DFC Justin DiZenzo, and Deputy Nathan Schnitzlein. The trooper is Trooper First Class Michael Dowling. All are on administrative leave and the incident is under investigation.
