Man Shot After Firing At Deputies, State Trooper

JOPPA, Md. (WJZ) -- Harford County Deputies and a Bel Air Maryland State Police trooper shot a 23-year-old man early Saturday morning.

According to officials, the deputies were called to the 33-hundred block of Clayton Road for a disorderly suspect. When they arrived, a homeowner told them that the 23-year-old, the caller's son, was intoxicated and may have fired shots while in his vehicle. The vehicle was parked outside the home.

As the deputies and trooper tried to speak with the suspect, he fired at least one shot.

The officers tried to get him out of the car, but when he did exit, he fired at them again. At that point, they returned fire, striking the suspect.

The suspect was taken to Shock Trauma. His condition is unknown.

None of the officers were injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
