Man Sentenced To 18 Months In Mini-Mart Fire

FEDERALSBURG, Md. (AP) -- A 62-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for setting a fire that destroyed a Federalsburg minimart nearly four years ago.

Gary Greenwood of Denton was also ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution at sentencing Monday in Caroline County Circuit Court.

WBOC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1HpuAcu) that Greenwood pleaded guilty to malicious burning in a fire in July 2011 at the Stop-and-Go Mini-Mart. Fire officials say the blaze burned the mini-mart and a connecting building to the foundation, causing $400,000 in damage.
